Sprig showing a kept plant called Monty, Monstera deliciosa, with round Water, Light and Health indicators and buttons to diagnose a leaf or use the light meter. Sprig's Care list for Tuesday: Monty and Basil due now, with Fern, Pothos and Monty later this week.
Sprig's camera view over a leaf, with a round glass drop naming it Monstera, Monstera deliciosa, and a hint: tap the drop to keep it.

Point it at a plant

Open Sprig and the camera is already on. Hold a leaf in view: dew gathers into one round drop, and the plant’s name settles across its rim with the Latin name underneath.

The model runs on your iPhone. It knows common houseplants and garden plants, and it works with no signal.

Keep the ones you live with

Tap the drop and it rolls up to a thin strand along the top of the screen, where your plants hang as beads. Pull a bead down to open that plant: its photo, its nickname, how it’s doing.

The Care list: plants due for water today and later this week, each with a check to mark it done and a moon to snooze.

Water, light, health

Every kept plant gets three plain answers: when it wants water, how much light it likes, and whether it looks well.

With Sprig Care, watering schedules tell you which plant is thirsty, the morning it’s due. Mark it done or snooze it a day.

Diagnose a leaf

Point at a yellowing or spotted leaf. Sprig suggests common problems and what usually helps.

Dark when you are

In dark mode the glass turns dark. Your plant’s photo stays exactly as it is.

Nothing leaves your phone

Sprig was built to work in a field with no signal. That also means it has nothing to send anywhere.

Questions

Does Sprig need an internet connection?

No. The identification model lives inside the app and runs on your iPhone. Sprig makes no network connections at all, so it works the same in a garden, a greenhouse or a basement with no signal.

How accurate is it?

Sprig knows common houseplants and garden plants, and it shows the name only once it is confident. It can still be wrong, especially with seedlings, unusual varieties, poor light or a blurry leaf. Treat a name as a good first guess, not a final answer.

Can Sprig tell me if a plant is safe to eat, touch, or have around pets?

Please don’t rely on it for that. Identification can be wrong, and a wrong answer here can hurt someone. Never use Sprig to decide whether a plant is safe to eat or touch, or safe for pets. Ask a qualified person, such as a vet, a doctor or your local poison control centre.

What is free, and what does Sprig Care add?

Free: identify plants as often as you like, offline, and save up to three plants. Sprig Care adds watering schedules, leaf diagnosis, the light meter and offline care guides. Care is $1.99 a month, or $9.99 a year with a 7-day free trial (USD).

Where are my photos kept?

Camera frames are looked at on your iPhone and then thrown away. Only when you keep a plant does Sprig save its photo, inside the app on your phone. Nothing is uploaded. Delete the app and the photos go with it.

Is there an Android version?

It is in development. Sprig is coming soon to the App Store first, then Google Play.
